I have a book that I am writing, and I wanted people to see it. The best way I could think of was showing it on my blog. It's based on the game World of Warcraft and I hope you leave comments. You probably won't have time to read all of it, so copy and paste into a writing program or something, so you can come back to it. So enjoy, Elindor Windrunner! (So far.)
Elindor Windrunner
By Simon VanVactor-Lee
Prologue (Read First!)
Elindor, the 52-year-old Elf (5 in Elven years), was sitting quietly in the bushes while he watched the Orc tie his parents up to a tree. Elindor thought,
What are those bandits doing? As a troll went up to the tree, it took some branches and started rubbing them together.
They're going to burn them alive! Thought Elindor. He couldn't do anything; the group of Horde bandits would kill him, too. He could only sit and watch the horrible scene, as the flames consumed his parents. The Orcs shouted,
"Zølkar!"
Once they were gone, he got out and stared at the ashes that used to be his kind, loving parents. He sat down and cried for a while.
Chapter I
Elindor, now 183 (or 18) got up, stretching. He got off his mat, and admired the forest around him. He was running short on food, so, he went out hunting. He spotted a huge silver stag; it's great horns stretching three feet.
"This amount of meat would last for weeks." Elindor thought. But he could not bear to kill something so beautiful and intelligent. He did not know, but this kind of stag could talk. He was surprised when the stag said,
"Thank you, because you did not shoot me, I will take you to my cousin. He has always wanted to go with someone, out of the woods and on an adventure." Elindor had heard of the Elendûr, the talking stags, never thinking to meet one. Elindor accepted, thinking.
What a high honor, to keep an Elendûr as a companion!
When they reached his cousin, who accepted to be with Elindor, Elindor asked, "What is your name, Elendûr?" The stag replied,
"Andoral."
"It will be a great pleasure to have you as a companion, Andoral." Elindor told Andoral about how his parents were killed by Horde bandits, burned alive while tied up to a tree. Andoral said,
"I would love to help you on your quest to avenge your parents.” Elindor started to go hunting, but then Andoral said,
"It offends me that you would kill something to get food. So Elindor got some herbs to eat, went back to his campsite, and shared breakfast with his new friend.
Elindor was currently in the country of Azshara, not a great place for a member of the alliance. It was filled with horde, with only a few alliance outposts here and there. Once, traveling through there, they came across a group of Orcish patrols. They were crossing vast plains, when Elindor saw, maybe seven or eight Orcs standing about half a mile away. "Watch out, Andoral," said the Elf. He drew his swords. Andoral charged in flinging three into the distance with his antlers. Then Elindor started running towards The Orcs with his swords drawn, ready to attack. When he reached them he slashed at the closest one, slicing off his sword arm then stabbed him through the gut. He knocked the spear out of another's hand with a kick, and killed him in an instant. Another, with a sword, came charging at him, he brought his sword down towards Elindors knee, but just in time, Elindor brought up his short sword to block the blow. Then he used his other sword to demolish the enemy. Elindor spun around to see an arrow flying towards Andoral. He leapt and his hand intercepted the arrow in mid air. Andoral pounded the bowman to the ground, while Elindor killed an Orc with a club. He spun around to see an axe man about to swing his axe at him. Andoral charged him, the blow sending him flying to a nearby tree.
"Zølkar!" the Orc shouted. Elindor remembered hearing that word, but didn't know where.
"Let's go, Andoral," said the Elf, and they walked off.
The next day, Elindor got up with a yawn.
“Good morning, Andoral,” he said.
“It is,” replied the stag.
“Let’s go get something to eat.”
After they had their breakfast, they started through the forest.
After a few days, they reached the edge of the woods, and scanned the area.
Andoral said, “There is a village nearby,” but Elindor could not see any signs of a town.
“I’ve been smelling smoke for a while now.” Andoral explained.
“Really? Elendûr must have a good sense of smell.” When they came to the village, he went to an inn. They ate a good lunch.
He was planning on going into Durotar itself, the Orc homeland, something not done by a member of the Alliance his age.
He was in the southern reaches of Azshara, in one of the few alliance towns, when all of a sudden, a Draenei came bounding in, screaming about a huge battle, A twenty minutes walk to the south, In Durotar, Draenei fighting Undead, Most of the Draenei were dead.
“I must aid the Draenei,” said Elindor. He ran as fast as he could to the scene. Sure enough, there was a giant Battle going on underneath him.
"Andoral, I want you to do the best you can to destroy those Undead." Andoral nodded, and then ran down the cliff. Elindor slid down the cliff after Andoral. An Undead looking in the opposite direction fell at the Elf's swords. He killed several of the skeletal beasts, but then he saw an arrow flying at him. He dodged the arrow easily, but he was off balance. The flat of a sword sent him crashing to the ground. The Undead appeared above him, sword ready to strike.
This is the end for me, thought Elindor, unable to do anything. The Undead was about to stab its blade through Elindor's heart. Then, all of a sudden, he got knocked to the side. "Thank you, Andoral." Elindor got up, and demolished the surprised Undead with a slash of the blades. He was an expert swordsman, but he was worried about Andoral, who was in his first real battle. The two saved each other from death several times.
Then Elindor spotted a Dwarf in the battle, carrying a gigantic Battle-axe. He surveyed the Dwarfs fighting, as he swiped at the Undead. He was surprised to find that the Dwarf was as good with his axe as Elindor was with his sword. Then Elindor saw one of the enemies rushing up behind the dwarf. Elindor charged forth, swinging his swords randomly. Luckily, he got the Undead on its bony leg, slowing it down just enough for Elindor to save the unsuspecting dwarf.
The dwarf turned around, surprised. He grinned at Elindor, and Elindor turned around. He walked a bit, turned back, then was surprised to see the dwarf raise his gun at Elindor, and then he sent a bullet flying over his shoulder.
Elindor spun around to see an Undead fall to the ground with a bullet hole in his forehead. After saying a quick thank you to the dwarf he turned back to the battle. The battle raged on for hours. The Undead were weakening.
"The Undead leader has fallen!" somebody shouted. Then Elindor started killing every Undead he saw, filled with a new energy.
He heard the Dwarf laugh, and then Elindor gave out a great Elven battle cry. All the Draenei also got a new boost of energy, as well as Andoral. Then he cleaved an undead soldier, and turned to see the flash of a club, then nothing.
Chapter II
When Elindor got up, the battle was obviously over. There were a few Undead left, running east, probably to the Orc capital of Orgrimmar.
He looked around, searching for any survivors. He quickly found Andoral, who had a bad, but nowhere near fatal wound. He noticed the dwarf he had saved earlier. He ran over. The dwarf said,
"Thanks for the rescue."
"You're quite welcome," Elindor replied. "Thanks to you, as well. Someone of your skill should not have such a death. I'm sorry, but I didn't get your name."
"Roran," said the dwarf.
"I am Elindor," said the Elf.
"I'm heading east." Said Roran. "How about you?" Elindor then realized he wasn't planning on going anywhere. He decided he didn't want to spend much more time around Orgrimmar, and now that he had had a taste of Durotar, he didn't want to go any deeper into the Orc country. So he blurted out he first thing that came to mind.
"Felwood," he said. So the dwarf and the Elf parted soon after, and since Elindor couldn't think of a better place to go, he started towards Felwood. He had had enough of horde territory, so Felwood was good, being neutral and all. But it was dangerous. Wild demons lived in Felwood. It being far to the northwest, he had a long journey ahead of him.
He first Had to cross a many mile long bridge across a GIGANTIC river called the great divide, obviously because it marked the border between Durotar and the barrens. When he was across, there were ten Orc heads hung inside the bridge, separated from their bodies, which were floating in the great divide. Then he started north. He easily got into Ashenvale.
He stopped by a Night Elf village there to get some supplies. He decided to stay at an inn there for the night.
He was thinking in his bed that night. He thought, I need something to ride... Andoral is out, First, he's an Elendûr. Second, he's too light. Then a CLANG, CLATTER, CRASH! It came from the room next to him.
He went over to bang on the rude neighbors door. The door opened and at first he didn't see anything. Then he slowly turned his head downward. There stood a little gnome, staring back up at him.
"Yes? " said the tiny gnome. Elindor replied,
"Stop the racket! What are you doing in here?"
"Oh, just this and that. You know, one time I was toying around with magical items in this inn, a gigantic human came bounding in. He was about to bet me into a pulp, when a staff appeared out of thin air and bonked him on the head. I did that of course. You should have seen the astonished look on his face when the staff just floated upward, then fell on his red head. Then he crossed his eyes, and fell to the ground. Then I made him seem like he was conscious, He just walked right out the door, and returned to his room. I thought you were him coming back to get revenge. It wouldn’t have worked. I would make him fly out the window and then face the eight-foot drop to the ground. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Felix Flygear, wizard extraordinaire!"
"Elindor. Elindor Windrunner."
"So, where are you heading?"
"Felwood."
"Oh, can I come with? I always wanted to go to Felwood! Excellent! I'll pack my bags. We'll leave tomorrow at 10:00!" Elindor was about to respond, but then Felix slammed the door in his face. SO Elindor went back to bed.
He left at 9:00 the next morning.
After a few months, he reached Felwood. He was venturing through a forest, when a gigantic salamander sped past him.
"That would make a perfect steed," Elindor thought. It was, black with fire designs on its legs and tail, and a single flame rested upon the head. So, he started to try and catch it. The salamander was so fast; Elindor could barely keep it in sight. When he was just thinking it impossible, the salamander froze. Out from behind a tree came Felix Flygear on a giant mechanical ostrich.
Elindor was riding the gigantic salamander. They were out of Felwood, They meaning Elindor and Felix. Felix said,
"I'm bored. Let's sing a travel song!" Elindor groaned and said,
"NO!" But Felix had already started singing the most annoying gnomish song Elindor had ever heard.
"A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo!"
"Sin-"
"We're on an adventure, Whoa-ho-ho! Where are we going? I don't know!"
"He-"
"A tweedle dee dee, tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo!"
"You see-"
"Look at that acorn, look at the leaves! I wish I had wings to fly over the trees!"
"It's not-"
"A tweedle dee, tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo!"
"Garr-"
"Battle the Orcs! Battle the trolls! Maybe the furblogs! Blow up the gnolls!"
"Stop-"
A tweedle dee dee, tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo!"
By now, Elindor wanted to blast up Felix.
"Is it over yet?" The Elf moaned.
"Oh, no! That's just the first three verses! You got to here all 50! A tweedle dee dee, tweedle dee dum, loop dee doo-"
"Stop singing! I have a sword here! I'll stab you if I have to!" Felix didn't shut up. "Have sword! Will stab!"
"Fine, fine! I guess you just don't appreciate gnomish art!"
"That's right, I don't!" Elindor said under his breath.
He had named the salamander Morglan. He was back on trying to find the bandits that had burned his parents. Even though he hadn't a clue who they were, their images were always in his mind. Elves do not forget easily.
He was riding a road into a human city, Looking for supplies in the market. On his way, he saw a wanted sign. He at once recognized the face of the Orc who tied his parents up to the great oak tree. Under the picture he saw the name. Zarglak Bonecrusher. Now how was he supposed to find Zarglak? He had no idea. Then, under the name he saw: Last seen two weeks ago in Forlond, trying to destroy the weapons booth, owned by Katherine Burk. But the authorities managed to break it up before serious damage was done. Forlond was the same name of the village he currently was in.
Felix was looking at him, perplexed. He had no clue what Elindor was staring at the poster for. So Elindor explained to him about what had happened to his parents, with the Orcs and Trolls, Tauren and Undead, and a couple blood elves, tying his parents up to a gigantic tree and then burning the tree, and how now he was trying to find and kill whoever was leading them. So he concluded,
"And this is the Orc had the honor, I guess, of tying them up!"
"Oh. Well my dad is a famous engineer,” replied Felix.
"I see. Wait. You mean the great Fenzlar Flygear? "
"Yep. That's my dad! I didn't know he was that famous!"
"Are you kidding? He's one of the most well known engineers in Azeroth! I can't believe he's your own dad, and you didn't know that! His business is HUGE!"
"Well, he doesn't spend much time with me. He spends all his free time in his workshop. I only see him in mealtimes. Kind of sad, actually."
"I guess so... but still, he's sent stuff as far as Teldrasill from his home in Ironforge!"
"Whoa! I had no idea!"
"Anyways, we better go to Katherine Burk's. I bet you anything that he's going to try again. Probably trying to get some weapons."
"Ok, I'll bet you 80 silver!"
"I didn't really mean 'I'll bet you anything'!"
"Then why'd you say it?"
"Becau- oh, never mind."
So they took the job of watching Katherine's shop. It was a good job for them. They were also helping Katherine, probably getting a step closer to finding whoever was leading Zarglak and the rest of the bandits who killed his parents. Plus Katherine was paying them fifty silver a day to do it! When they applied for the job, Katherine said,
"Oh, thank you very much! I don't know how I can repay you!"
"50 silver a day should do it." They all laughed. Katherine was very big for a woman, and was a very skilled warrior by the looks of her. Elindor decided that she practiced with her swords with all her free time.
It happened on the fifth night. Katherine was selling an axe to a grumpy looking Dwarf, when CRASH! Through the window came Zarglak Bonecrusher. Elindor charged him. Zarglak stood there, stunned for a milli-second. Then he raised his club, and tried to smash Elindor's skull. Elindor easily brought his sword up to block it, but the force of the blow made his arms shake.
Man, this guy is strong! He thought. Andoral charged and knocked Zarglak to the wall. He fell to the floor, and Elindor pinned him down with his sword. At first, the Orc shivered in terror, but then a broad grin stretched across his face, and his hand zipped down to the pocket. By now the dwarf that Katherine was doing business with had thrown some coins at her, took his axe and ran. Felix was trying to cast a spell, but he was obviously not able to concentrate enough, with all the swords slashing in such a confined space. The Orc threw something from his pocket in the air, and suddenly everything went black.
When the darkness cleared, Elindor saw Zarglak jump out the window he had broken with a sack of weapons. He knew what Zarglak had thrown in the air. Instant darkness powder. An ounce of it made everything go pitch black for 30 seconds when exposed to air. It was very dangerous stuff, and highly flammable. Which is why the shop was currently on fire.
"Everybody OUT!" cried Elindor at the top of his lungs.
Katherine was backed into a corner, surrounded by flames. Elindor rushed forward and made an amazingly high leap to rescue her that only an elf could make. He grabbed her and jumped back over the flames, which was almost impossible carrying the weight of Katherine.
The flame had spread so quickly, that the four had only one place they could go. Upstairs. Elindor, still pulling Katherine behind him, ran up the stairs with Felix at his side, Andoral close behind. They leapt out a nearby window and fell nine feet and landed, THUD, on the ground.
Wasting no time, Elindor rushed to ring the fire bell. He hurried up the stairs of the tower and pulled the rope hanging there as hard as he could. CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! It rang in his ears, but he had already started to run back and help with the bucket brigade that would soon be forming.
He knew that he was letting Zarglak escape, but he had seen Zarglak use the North gate from the tower with the fire bell, so he knew that he must have been heading towards the only town close to Forlond, which was just a bit to the north, Fellron.
There was a long line stretching back to the well when he got there. The person at the well was pumping water into the buckets as fast as possible. When the bucket was full, he passed it down the line, and they threw the bucket at the fire. Then after tossing the water to extinguish the fire, the person would pass it back down another line back to the well. Then he would pump water into the empty bucket, and the same thing happened over and over. There were at least fifty buckets and about twenty-five people in each line, so the process went very quickly.
Elindor took the job of pumping water, the exhausted man thanking him greatly. Again and again he filled the bucket with water, and again and again the water was tossed into the fire.
Felix, meanwhile, had just gotten up. He had been knocked out by the fall from the upstairs window. He took one quick glance at the fire, and the bucket brigade which was doing practically nothing to stop it, and immediately new exactly what he should do.
Elindor was pumping as fast as possible, seeing how they were doing very little to stop the flames.
Stupid instant darkness powder. He thought to himself. By now he was automatically filling the bucket that was passed to him, keeping his eyes on the fire.
All of a sudden, a gigantic thundercloud appeared directly over what was left of Katherine's shop. An incredibly thick fountain of rain came pouring down upon it, putting out the flames.
This was Felix's work of course. He was glad he had put out the fire, but also sad as he stared at the ashes that used to be Katherine Burk's Weaponry. He was also exhausted from casting that gigantic spell. He stared at everybody's astonished looks, and laughed, but then plopped back on the ground, sleeping.
At first Elindor was amazed, but slowly, slowly, understanding came to him.
“Nice spell-casting, Felix!” Elindor remarked.
“Oh. Yes, I guess it was.”
“So Katherine’s still knocked out? She looks tougher than that, even though she did bonk her head real hard.”
“Nope. She woke up, saw what was left of her shop, and fainted.”
“Ah… she must have really loved that shop.”
“I guess so.”
They set out for Fellrond, Felix on his mechanical ostrich, and Elindor on Morglan. They now meaning Felix, Elindor, and Katherine, who had a horse by the name of Corlac. She had insisted on coming with them so she could get her weapons back. She had also insisted on them calling her Kate.
“A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! A tweedle dee dee, a tweedle dee dum, loop dee dum, loop dee doop dee doo! We’re on an adventu-“
“STOP SINGING!” Elindor shouted at the top of his lungs.
“Oh, let him sing, it’s cute!” Kate protested
You wouldn’t think so after 50 verses. Elindor thought.
“Ahoy! Elindor!” A familiar voice called. Elindor turned to see Roran Stormhammer.
“Hey, Roran! This is Felix and Katherine, who would like for you to call her Kate.” Felix waved cheerfully, but
Kate just smiled, and turned to Elindor.
“I’d like you to have this.” She said, pulling out a bundle of throwing knives.
“Where’d this come from?”
“The remains of my weapon shop.”
“Something survived? You should have them!”
“No. I want you to have them.”
“Well, I am skilled with throwing knives.”
“Good! Then you won’t have to train at all!” with that, she thrust the throwing knives in to his hands, and turned away, obviously thinking of the weapon shop.
“Her weapon shop burned down.” He said to the confused Roran.
“Ah….”
So they hiked on.
When they reached Fellrond, they had to sneak in. It was an Orc city, after all. Then they started searching. They split, and when somebody found Zarglak, they were supposed to shoot up red sparks from wands provided by Felix. Too bad that was all they did.
“I haven’t had any training in wand-making, except what’s required for the status as mage! Sorry!!!!!” Felix had wailed. He was looking on the west side of the city. Then he saw a flash of red sparks in the air. So he ran towards it. What else would he do? He jumped over walls, and then again. And again. Finally he saw Roran Stormhammer and Felix Flygear standing outside someone's house.
"Here's what he thinks is his house." Roran whispered.
"There's got to be some other place where all the bandits meet. This is to small." He replied.
"That's what we figured."
"So we're waiting for Kate."
"Yep."
Once Katherine got there, they explained and they started planning it out. It was finally decided that Felix would blast an arcane missile right through the window to make him come out. Then it was all up to them. So through the window went an arcane missile, and out the door came Zarglak Bonecrusher, exactly according to plan.
"You!" he said, and turned his back to run.
Bad idea. He thought, and tackled him, whipped a dagger off his belt, rolled Zarglak over, and nicked his shoulder with the knife.
"Tell me where the rest of you bandits are and what happened to those weapons you stole and I'll let you go."
"The rest of us are in a house right outside the west gate of Orgrimmar. Those weapons were given to our leader." He lifted his hands off Zarglak, and the Orc ran away.
"But… don't you want to kill him?" Felix asked, sounding shocked.
"That dagger I nicked him with was poisoned. He will drop dead… now." Sure enough, Zarglak flumped to the ground.
"What? I didn't know you had poison." Felix frowned.
"I didn't. I quickly dipped the dagger into some poison he had on his belt, in a vial."
"Whoa. I didn't see anything!"
"Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it wasn't there. Now we got to get out of here, before we get spotted. The authorities are sure to come here for murder!" So they ran out of Fellrond.
When they reached Forlond, they planned out what they would do about the bandits. "Great. Right outside Orgrimmar. I was there a while ago. Grrr!"
So they took the long trek back to Orgrimmar.
Their journey back was pretty uneventful, except for the occasional Highwayman. Except one very big event. Very big. He realized it had been a while since he had written to his cousin, El'qor. So he sent this letter.
Dear, El'qor
The bandit broke into the shop again, just as we predicted. He succeeded in stealing weapons this time. You're thinking, "My cousin, an expert swordsman, couldn't stop a bandit?" Three words for yah. Instant. Darkness. Powder. I hate that stuff! So then it started to burn down. So we jumped out a window, and there was a giant bucket brigade. Then, thanks to some great spell casting from Felix, the fire went out. Now all that's left of the weapon shop is a pile of ashes. Good thing that'll never happen to your armory! But anyways, Katherine went along with us to get her weapons back. We killed the bandit, and we have a ton of money off his corpse. Like 1000 gold! Wahoo! I'm sending half of it to you, since we won't have anything to spend it on anyways. We're heading towards Orgrimmar, since we found a lot out from the bandit before we killed him. The bandits have a fort right outside the city. Anyways. Here you go!
Yours truly,
Elindor.
His cousin had always wanted to go on an adventure. So hopefully 500 gold was enough to help him survive. Hopefully. He dumped it into the mailbox and ran to catch up with his friends. He was walking along, looking at the beautiful flowers on the trees. It was the mid-spring festival back at home. But he wasn't at home. He kept going. Then eight grotesque creatures jumped out of the bushes.
"KOBOLDS!" he shouted. He already had one hacking at him with a little mining pick.
Right. They usually enjoy mining. Why would a group become robbers? Huh. He whipped out each of his swords. The one slashing at his legs was immediately demolished. He killed one after another, his swords slashing everywhere. The last one must have been one too many killed, because the remaining two stared at the corpses before them, and turned to run away. He killed one with a throwing knife, and the other kept running.
"Elves are faster than Kobolds!" Elindor called. "Once I catch up with you, you can either die or give us some answers!"
"You no no tell mesa what ter do! You cut me ter pieces anyways!"
So he ran to catch up with the Kobold, and immediately pinned him to the ground.
"Why did a bunch of Kobolds turn to robbery?"
"We wasn't turning to robbsys! We was hired to kills someone with your descreeption! He promised us many precious gems! He he! We thought we had got him, but we wasn't eexpecting you to be so skeeled!"
"Hired? By who?"
"An Orcsy neemed ZARGLAK! Can I go now?"
"Zarglak Bonecrusher?"
"Yees! Can I go now?'
"In Fellrond?"
"Yees! Can I go now?"
"Yes. You may go now."
He let go and let the Kobold run off into the distance.
"Um. He hired someone to kill me? Why?"
"Don't ask me!" Felix shrugged.
"How'm I supposed to know?" Katherine countered.
So, they hiked on.
"Stop! Give me your money and no one gets hurt!"
Elindor whipped around to see a tall dark man.
No money. But your not going to be the one doing the hurting. Ha! He thought as he whipped out his swords.
"You think you can beat the Black Warrior? Well let's see. Which weapon should I use against this little tike?"
Little tike? I'll show you little tike! As the opposing warrior was sifting through some weapons, Elindor waited quietly. Katherine was backing off slowly, and Felix was staring in utter amazement.
Finally, the man pulled out a flail from the bag lying next to him.
"This should do it!"
"A tiny ball with little points doesn't scare Elindor Windrunner!"
"Uh-huh."
He swung the flail through the air as a warning.
Elindor blocked the next attack easily, but it completely smashed his sword. Then the flail came back the other way, and he ducked, rolled under the chain of the flail, and cut it from behind.
"You shall pay for destroying my best weapon."
"You'll pay for trying to rob me!"
The black warrior reached into his bag and pulled out a great long sword, and swung it. Elindor jumped back, and decided to switch to fighting with his knives, because he wasn't used to fighting with one sword. So, he whipped his knives out.
"You'll be coughing up blood!"
"If anyone is going to be coughing up blood, it's going to be you!"
"Let's find out." The opponent lunged at Elindor and made a gash in his leg.
"Arrrgh!" Felix was still entranced, and Kate had already high-tailed it.
He stabbed the warrior in the side as he turned around, and the knight decided not to use a sword. He ran to the bag and pulled a club out. The fight went on and on and on. THWAM! He hit Elindor in the stomach with so much force he sent him flying to a tree where he hit the trunk and fell to the ground. As Elindor watched the opponent run toward him, he saw a rope with a weight on it swing around and around and around the Black Warriors ankles. The knights' legs were held together, so he tripped and fell to the ground. Elindor saw a little goblin holding the other end of the weighted rope pull the warriors' body toward her, with many grappling hooks, lanterns, ropes, a knife, and a gigantic backpack obviously packed to the brim with more hiking and camping and adventuring gear.
"You are lucky that your little friend here saved you! But you are the closest match I have ever had! I am impressed. Now get off of me you @^%*!in' goblin!"
"I don't think so, Nick!" He looked up at Elindor. "Nick's the Black Warriors' name."
"Oh." Elindor said through a swollen lip and a lot of blood.
"Ya got to surprise these big bandits. Yer' gonna die for terrorizing' my homeland, Nick." With that she stabbed him in one side, then the other, then the stomach. She got up and wiped the blood off the dagger with a cloth and said, "Let him die with a stomach wound. It's a bad way to go. Serves him right!" The little green goblin looked at him and said, "I'm Sheela Metalclaw. Nick here," Sheela pointed her thumb towards him. "Groan!" "Has been bothering me. My friends. My neighbors. My relatives. My town! He keeps vandalizing, robbing, and all sorts of stuff! Wait till' I tell my folks that I actually got him! YES! But I couldn't have done it without you as a distraction." Elindor didn't like being referred to as a distraction, but he was glad he could help.
"C'mon. I'll take ya home with me! It's about a day from here to the southeast! HA! I got the bla-ack warrior! I got the bla-ack warrior!" She sang as she did a little dance.
Okay.
"Well c'mon! YAY! I did it! I did it! An elf helped me a little, but I did it! I got the bla-ack warrior! I got the bla-ack warrior!"
"My name is Elindor. Elindor Windrunner. Hang on. Felix!" He smacked the little gnome. Immediately he came out of his trance, and looked around. When he saw Sheela, he said,
"Hi there! I'm Felix Flygear, Wizard Extraordinaire! When I saw you, I thought you might be trying to kill Elindor, but instead you killed the warrior! Nice to meet you! Will you be helping us on our adventure? Is that your original hair-color?" He stared at the reddish hazel-brown hair. "You should wear it in a pony-tail instead of those little curls! But the curls do look good…"
"Shut up Felix! KATE! WHERE ARE YOU?" Elindor shouted. He pushed his way through the bushes. He came to a clearing, with one tree standing in the center, where Katherine Burk was sitting.
"Sorry I ran away. I was scared to fight him!" With that, she buried her head in her arms and started sobbing.
"What the heck? I got wounded. You have a right to be scared of a skilled warrior like that! I was really scared when he knocked me into that tree and started advancing!"
"You got knocked into a tree?"
"Yeah. C'mon."
They headed back towards Felix and got there just in time to hear Felix say,
"Those purple eyes are beautiful with that shine in the- Hi Elindor! Sheela's gone to scout ahead."
"Oh."
"Who's Sheela?" Kate asked, confused.
"This goblin we met. She saved me."
Kate shrugged, and they waited. And waited. And waited.
"Do you think something happened to her?"
"No Felix. Do-"
But Felix had already flown off to see if anything was the matter.
They waited for Felix to come back. And waited. And waited and waited until Elindor couldn't stand it any longer.
"Do you think we should go after them? We must've been waiting for about three hours by now."
Katherine sighed.
"I guess."
"Andoral!" Elindor shouted as the stag walked into the clearing. "Where were you? My gods!"
"I was grazing, when a group of goblins that were hunting tried to shoot me. It took a long time to lose them, and then I had to find my way back. Why?"
"Well while you were doing that, I was getting beat up by the Black Warrior."
"Oh."
"Well, we go after Sheela and Felix."
"Fine."
"Hello there!" a mysterious voice called out. "Is anyone there? I request a small package of food. I am starving."
"Aaaaaaaaah!" He shouted.
An elf walked into the clearing.
"An Elendûr!" he gasped.
"Ahem, where are my manners? I am Felondrae Farstrider, monk of the La'Cora temple of Silvermoon City. And you must be the renowned Katherine Burk. I am sorry to hear about your weapon shop. You are quite the weapon smith." He said as he bowed.
"Oh! Err…um…thank you!" said the stunned Katherine. Elindor saw rose begin to brighten in her cheeks.
"And you must be Elindor… I've heard of you, master swordsman. You are quite popular with the girls of Silvermoon city."
"It's not on purpose. You live in Silvermoon? Have you any idea where my cousin is at this point?"
"No I do not live in Silvermoon I live in the temple of La'Cora near the last of the Sun Wells. And I do not no the whereabouts of your cousin. But he is probably at the mid-spring festival." He looked puzzled. "Now I heard that you were looking for someone? Felix and Sheela, was it?"
"Yes. They were scouting ahead, and never came back."
"Ah."
"We were just about to go after them, when you came and scared us half to death!"
"Well, I am sorry about that. Let me make it up to you by helping you find them."
"Thank you, but we don't need-"
"I insist."
"Fine."
So they searched and searched. And then Elindor got covered with a burlap sack.
When he was uncovered, he was tied to a post. He looked around. Felondrae and Katherine were right next to them. Felix and Sheela were tied across the campsite from them.
"Not again!" Felondrae shouted. A dozen Tauren surrounded them. Two were guarding them, two guarding Felix and Sheela. The rest were lounging, playing Liars' Dice, and other games, or standing watch.
"I bet my Breastplate of the Boar!" one of the gambling Tauren shouted. The Taurens' weapons were piled together next to them.
"I bet my Bracers of the Bear!" they rolled.
"Four fours!"
"Liar!"
"Arrgh!" There was trading of armor, and the same thing was done over again, except the one that lost was betting 200 gold pieces.
One that was lying down slowly got up, and walked over to one guarding Felix and Sheela.
"My shift." He said.
"Roit." Said the other. He went to join the game of liars' dice.
Suddenly, his ropes came lose and he easily broke out. At first he thought the Tauren had really weak knots, but then that he saw that all the others had broken free as well, and he made I contact with Felix who winked.
All of the Tauren got up quickly, and grabbed their weapons. One who was sleeping immediately awoke when someone stepped on him. The two guarding him both swung halberds. He did a duck and roll, and came up with four Tauren surrounding him. He ducked again, and they all killed each other. He saw a Tauren with a panic-stricken face rise up into the air, and race toward him.
"Ah!" He shouted and ducked.
Must have been Felix. He almost killed me!
But instead it landed on the Tauren behind him, and they impaled each other with there horns. Then he found that the biggest and toughest Tauren was right behind him.
Oh boy! He thought as the Tauren swung his axe. It missed Elindor, but the force sent him to the ground. He looked around. Felix was busy casting a spell; Sheela was on the back of one, stabbing all of them. Kate was busy fighting two at once. But Felondrae was just finishing one off.
"Felondrae! I could use a little help over here!" he shouted, as he avoided the Tauren's Halberd. The next blow smashed his other sword, while Felondrae worked his way over towards Elindor.
"Hurry up now…" He said, as he switched to his knives.
The real reason he had been reluctant to take Katherine's knives was because his cousin El'qor had made every bit of his armor and both his swords, and he didn't want to take any others. But now he had no choice.
"Hello." Said Felondrae to the Tauren.
"Wha?" the Tauren's head whipped around.
SMASH! One of the club heads on his chain connected to his mouth, and the Tauren fell.
"Nice one, Felondrae."
"You're welcome."
There were four Tauren left.
A swirling mist came out of Felix's fingers and picked two of the Tauren up as if they were light as feathers and flung them as far as Teldrasill.
The two Tauren that were left high-tailed it and ran like the nine hells were running behind them.
"Hah!" Elindor said. He realized he himself had never drawn blood in that battle.
"I would've done that right when we were captured, but I figured we would want more people to help us fight them. We knew you would come sooner or later. So who's this?" Felux said, gesturing towards Felondrae.
"I am Felondrae Farstrider, of the La'Cora temple of Silvermoon City." Replied the elf, with a long introduction following.
"Okay, I'll just pretend that I understood half of that!"
"Hah! All you absolutely must know is that my name is Felondrae."
"Oh. Why didn't you just say that?"
"Reasons that your puny brain can't reach." He laughed.
"Huh? My brain is not puny! I'm one of the greatest spell casters in Dun Morogh!"
"Oh. I'm so sorry. And I know gnomes do not have puny brains. I would not have gotten here if not for the deeprun tram."
"So there. Hah." He stuck his tongue out at Felondrae.
I wish I knew what my relatives were doing. He thought, thinking about his younger sister Eltorae, his cousin El'qor, his other cousin Felarius, who wasn't even in SIlvermoon. He had become a wandering cleric for reasons no one knew. He thought of his aunt, who did secret missions of theft and spying for the great rulers of the Alliance. And his uncle, a great hero in many battles, still fighting for the Alliance. He thought about his grandparents, who died a heroic death by the hands of Ethlarg the left-handed, being so called because his right arm got chopped off. That mighty Orc warrior had terrorized many villages. They had died as a sacrifice that led to an opening to kill him. His parents had done nothing as special as those others(He thought), but they had also died well. He had a very heroic family.
