Reading comprehension & vocabulary (draft)
Identifying the main idea of a passage helps focus on what the author is trying to communicate. Look for the topic sentence in each paragraph, often at the beginning or end.
When you encounter an unfamiliar word, use context clues: the surrounding sentences, examples, or definitions the author may provide. Note how the word is used before consulting a dictionary.
A good summary captures the key points without copying the original text. It should be shorter than the source and in your own words. Include the main idea and supporting details.
